Why?
To have some sadistic pleasure (thinks of BV here, though I don't know why).
To gain information if they just don't feel like outright telling you.
Punishment for a crime.
Preventative medicine (to scare the shit out of other people so they obey/conform/do as torturers wish). Setting an example and all that.
Now: here's a favourite of mine. Putting a man in the "stress" position. (I don't think its been mentioned and yet it is so commonly used by armies the world over).
Stress position.
1) Kneel with the legs spread apart. A little further. Ah! Thank you, sir. That'll do nicely.
2) Hands behind your head, please. That's it. Good boy.
3) Oh, and don't slouch or you'll possibly get kicked/punched im the kidneys/slapped/tazered/beaten with a night stick. Nice and straight. Oh, well done you!
4) Being naked to make said subject feel vulnerable and humiliated is an option. I guarantee with his legs apart, he'll feel vulnerable.
Not sounding too bad, huh? ahhhhh well: now you keep this position indefinitely until
1) You feel like talking and chatting away giving me whatever information I need to hear.
2) Until I think I've broken you (you may be forced to watch me eat and drink while you have nothing
3) While I have jollies adding some mental torture and/or physcial.
Nice, right guys? Ipersonally find this one very beautiful.

you forgot one something that the militairy does to prisoners, and that is seperation, you would be suprised how fast people talk when you take away the command structure they are used to and all by them selves, they offer far less resistance then in a group..

Ingredients for this one, you will need:
1) Victim *sorry* "guest"
2) Whatever suitable method of retsraint takes your fancy
3) Chair if you feel generous
4) Large plasma screen tv
5) A large quantity of banned, disturbing images (take your pic but I like to jazz it all up and vary things).
6) A sturdy stapler gun.
7) Always, always use good manners and be polite to your "guest" for that better class of torturer. I can't abide bad manners.
Restrain your guest.
Request that they watch the large, almost cinema size TV.
Play offensive, disturbing material. Blip images of horrific things.
Study guest's face.
Oh dear, they keep closing their eyes or averting them.
YOU: "please, my dear, watch the screen."
They glance. Look away again. Oh dear.
They might mumble something.
YOU: "what do you mean, you don't want to watch? That's quite rude."
Pause. "Please, look at the screen intently. I would be happy if you showed more interest. Really, its for your own good."
Vic. *sorry* guest becomes uncomfortable. Still averts/shuts eyes.
YOU: "I WANT YOU TO WATCH!" pause. "please"
Take sturdy staple gun and staple upper eyelids to eyebrows.
* It is advisable to have some antiseptic wipes handy as there will be some bleeding. And we can't have that now, can we. Or anything else to impair viewing of said programme.
** Oh! And never forget to thank your guest for their time and patience. **
